By the time the Seattle-based group achieved massive success in the early 1990s-second only to Nirvana-Droge had his own roots-rock outfit called Ramadillo. As a young adult, Droge worked in a pizza place and befriended Mike McCready, who would later go on to fame as the lead guitarist for Pearl Jam. His mother was a music teacher, and his father, also a music-lover, taught Droge to play his first instrument, the ukulele, at the age of four. Yet singer/songwriter Droge, an interesting by-product of the Northwest grunge scene who has sometimes been compared to Tom Petty, is fortunate to possess well-connected friends who have great faith in his talents.ĭroge was born in the late 1960s and grew up in Seattle, Washington. He is currently on tour with her at numerous venues in the U.S.Pete Droge has suffered the "one-hit wonder" tag since his 1994 alternative-radio hit, "If You Don't Love Me (I'll Kill Myself)." The song helped make his debut, Necktie Second, a commercial success, but his record label was undergoing financial distress by the time his 1996 follow-up was released, and Find a Door predictably went nowhere with no marketing effort to help it. In 2012 Stroud once again joined up with Sheryl Crow and besides being her lead guitar player, he also became her bandleader. His last performances with Crow before moving to McLachlan were on the Lilith Fair 2010 tour, which was also his debut with McLachlan he played with both artists for the first five dates of the tour. Stroud remained active touring with Sheryl up until late June 2010, when he started touring with Sarah McLachlan's band. Their debut concert was filmed, originally for A&E’s Live By Request, and later released on DVD. Soon after the conclusion of the Globe Sessions tour, Peter joined Don Henley in 2000 for his Inside Job tour. This musical relationship has lasted for over eleven years, where he eventually served as Sheryl’s music director. It was during this period that he met Sheryl Crow, and in late 1998 she asked him to join her band in support of her third release, Globe Sessions. In the mid-late 90s, Stroud played with Pete Droge.
